I Am a Role Model Kind of Guy.
I have always been one to have a "role model" that I look up to. I have went through a few different ones throughout my life depending on the situation or what I am really interested in at that time. It started out when I was three years old, my first role model was John Elway, who was one of the best quarterbacks ever to play the game of football, complete with the Denver Broncos full uniform with Elway's number seven. I think every picture when I was three shows me in that uniform, I may have even slept in it. (no not really) Well maybe, I was only three. Though I was young, there was a reason that I looked up to John Elway. I liked his style of play, he was a true competitor, one who showed great respect for the game, while being a superstar at the same time. That is hard to come by anymore Plus he was a quarterback, the true athlete on the field.
Elway was my first, of a short list of these "role models" that I have had throughout this journey I am living. My most influential role model however I would have to say was Justin Timberlake. This may sound different to some of you, but this is a guy who I think is really special. The man has so many mad talents it is crazy. He is a singer/songwriter, a actor, a dancer, a producer, the dude even has a smooth golf swing, which is very important. JT, if you know me has had a lot of influence on my life. I have wore clothes like he has, bought shoes that he wears, shit probably tried to eat some of the same food he eats. I don't really know why I always was trying to imitate these things that Timberlake did. I guess it was the fact that deep down my ultimate DREAM in life has always been to be a famous figure, similar to JT.
So here I am now working hard to be a musician, and a new "role model" has snuck into my life, and for important reasons. He is Mr. Jason Mraz. Let me tell you why Mraz has taken position of such a influential person in my life. Mraz is also a famous musician, who tours around the world spreading his beautiful tunes. Mraz, despite his fame and success, really stays true to himself. He does not share the same light of those like Justin Timberlake, but Mraz is trying to utilize his music in a way that it will help the world out in different ways. He strives to spread a positive message with his lyrics, yet keeping his music very entertaining. This is true talent, in my opinion, when you can sing about other things than money, fame or women and still have millions who look up to you.
I have taken to Mraz so much, because if I could see my music going somewhere in the future, it would very similar to his. I like to spread a positive message with my music, try to make someone's day better after hearing my song or songs. Plus he has a lot of Reggae influence, which is right up my alley. The world is in a crazy spot right now, it is really scary. No one really respects anyone. Just for one small example, look and Republicans and Democrats, it used to be just two parties with different beliefs, now people judge others based on which party they fall and who they voted for. It is sad, it really is. In my opinion, if this world is going to go anywhere positive, we NEED to respect each other, not just on a small political scale, but on a larger global scale. The ultimate goal of my music.
In conclusion, I am a role model guy and I think it is very important to have role models throughout your life. They have all effected my life in a positive way, looking up to these people has always given me hope to keep trying to get better and work harder, and maybe someday reach my dreams, to be where they are. Being in a position where my words can really make changes, and hopefully make this world a better place. Most of all, I think It would be simply amazing to be someone's "role model" and have them look up to me, I think that would be just the coolest situation ever to have someone want to be like me, or do things that I do, wear the shoes I wear ha. That would be the best compliment of all.
One Love, Tim
p.s These are all role models outside of my whole family, who I look up to in the highest regards!
